Introduction
Reproduction is how living things make more of themselves. In plants and animals, reproduction helps new plants and animals grow.
Reproduction in Plants
Plants can reproduce in two ways:
- Sexual reproduction: This is when a plant makes seeds by combining pollen and egg cells. Example: A flower turning into a fruit with seeds.
- Asexual reproduction: This is when a plant makes new plants without seeds. Example: A potato growing a new plant from its eye.
Reproduction in Animals
Animals also reproduce in two ways:
- Sexual reproduction: This is when animals make babies by combining egg and sperm cells. Example: A hen laying eggs that hatch into chicks.
- Asexual reproduction: Some animals like starfish can grow new parts to make new animals.

Fun Activity
Try planting a seed in soil and watching it grow into a plant. See how the seed turns into a new plant just like how animals have babies!
Remember
- Plants and animals reproduce to make new generations.
- Plants can reproduce through seeds or without seeds.
- Animals reproduce through eggs and sperm or by growing new parts.
- Reproduction helps living things continue their species.
