Geometry

Lesson 64 of 75
1 min read Mathew Wahome

Introduction

Geometry is a branch of mathematics that deals with shapes, sizes, and properties of objects in space.

Shapes and Their Properties

  • Circle: A circle is a shape with all points the same distance from the center. For example, a clock face is a circle.
  • Triangle: A triangle has three sides and three angles. Think of a slice of pizza - it's a triangle!
  • Rectangle: A rectangle has four sides and four right angles. Your notebook is shaped like a rectangle!

Lines and Angles

  • Parallel Lines: Parallel lines are lines that never meet, no matter how far they are extended. Train tracks are a good example of parallel lines.
  • Right Angle: A right angle is 90 degrees. Imagine the corner of a book - that's a right angle!

Fun Activity

Draw different shapes on a piece of paper and label their properties. For example, draw a square and write that it has four equal sides and four right angles.

Remember

  • Shapes have different properties.
  • Lines can be parallel or intersecting.
  • Angles can be acute, right, or obtuse.
