Introduction
Listening and speaking are important skills that help us communicate with others. When we listen, we hear and understand what someone is saying. When we speak, we express our thoughts and ideas to others.
Listening
- Everyday Example: When your teacher is giving instructions in class, you listen carefully to understand what you need to do.
- Everyday Example: When your friend is telling you a story, you listen to follow along and ask questions.
Speaking
- Everyday Example: When you are sharing about your weekend with your classmates, you speak to tell them what you did.
- Everyday Example: When you are asking a question to the teacher, you speak to communicate your query.
Fun Activity
Practice listening and speaking by playing a game of "Simon Says" with your friends or family. One person gives instructions (e.g., Simon says touch your nose), and others have to listen and follow only if the phrase starts with "Simon says."
Remember
- Listen carefully to understand.
- Speak clearly to express yourself.
- Practice listening and speaking to improve your communication skills.
