Livestock Farming

Lesson 62 of 73
1 min read Mathew Wahome

Introduction

Livestock farming is when people raise animals like cows, goats, sheep, and chickens for different purposes like getting milk, meat, eggs, and wool.

Types of Livestock

  • Cattle: These are animals like cows. People keep them for milk, meat, and even for plowing fields.
  • Poultry: These are birds like chickens and ducks. People keep them for eggs and meat.
  • Goats and Sheep: These animals provide us with milk, meat, and wool.

Taking Care of Livestock

  • Feeding: Just like you need food to grow, animals need good food too. Cows eat grass, while chickens eat grains like maize and sorghum.
  • Shelter: Animals need a safe place to sleep and protect them from bad weather.
  • Healthcare: Animals need regular check-ups and vaccinations to stay healthy.
