Introduction to Agriculture

Lesson 5 of 73
1 min read Mathew Wahome

Introduction

Agriculture is the practice of growing crops and raising animals for food and other useful products.

What is Agriculture?

  • Growing Crops: This means planting seeds in the soil and taking care of them until they grow into plants that give us fruits and vegetables. For example, farmers plant maize seeds and take care of them by watering and weeding until they grow into tall maize plants that produce maize.
  • Raising Animals: This involves taking care of animals like cows, goats, and chickens. Farmers feed the animals, keep them healthy, and collect products like milk, meat, and eggs. For instance, a farmer feeds a cow grass and gives it water to produce milk.

Fun Activity

Try planting a seed in a small pot or garden. Observe how it grows each day. Remember to water it and give it sunlight.
