  • David committed adultery with Bathsheba and arranged the death of her husband Uriah.
  • The prophet Nathan rebuked him through a parable.
  • David confessed and repented (see Psalm 51). God forgave him but the child died and trouble came to his household.

2. King Solomon

Wisdom (1 Kings 3)

  • At Gibeon, Solomon asked God for an understanding mind. God also gave him riches and honour.
  • His wisdom was shown in the judgment of the two women claiming one baby.

  2. Built palaces, cities and fortifications.

  2. Built shrines for foreign gods.
  3. Imposed forced labour and heavy taxation.
  4. God declared that the kingdom would be divided after his death.

3. Lessons for Christians Today

  • Even great leaders can fall; we must guard against temptation.
  • Genuine repentance brings forgiveness but sin still has consequences.
  • Ask God for wisdom before seeking wealth.
  • Compromise with idolatry and worldly influence weakens faith.
  • Leaders should not oppress those they serve.
