Air and Weather

Grade 3 · Environmental Activities 1 min read

Introduction

Air and weather are important parts of our environment. We breathe air, and weather affects what we wear and what activities we can do each day.

What is Air?

  • Air is all around us. We cannot see it, but we can feel it when it moves (wind).
  • We need air to breathe. It helps us stay alive.
  • When we blow up a balloon, we are filling it with air.

What is Weather?

  • Weather is how hot or cold, wet or dry, and windy or calm it is outside.
  • We use weather forecasts to know if it will rain, be sunny, or be cloudy.
  • Seasons like rainy season and dry season are types of weather changes.

Fun Activity

Try this fun experiment:

  1. Blow up a balloon and tie the end.
  2. Place the balloon in the sun and one in the shade.
  3. Observe what happens to each balloon after some time.
  4. Write down your observations in a notebook.

Remember

  • Air is all around us and helps us breathe.
  • Weather tells us if it is hot, cold, rainy, or windy outside.
  • We can feel air when it moves as wind.
