Measurement

Introduction

Measurement is all about comparing things to see how big or small they are. We use tools to measure things like length, weight, and capacity.

Length

  • Example: Use a ruler to measure how long your pencil is.
  • Example: Compare the length of a table to the length of a chair.

Weight

  • Example: Use a scale to weigh an apple and a banana.
  • Example: Compare the weight of a book to the weight of a toy.

Capacity

  • Example: Use a measuring cup to see how much water can fit in a glass.
  • Example: Compare the capacity of a bottle to the capacity of a cup.

Fun Activity

Try measuring different objects in your house using a ruler, scale, and measuring cup. See if you can guess which object is longer, heavier, or can hold more.

Remember

  • Use a ruler to measure length.
  • Use a scale to measure weight.
  • Use a measuring cup to measure capacity.
  • Measurement helps us compare things.
  • Practice measuring things around you to become better at it.
