Grade 4 · Social Studies 1 min read

Introduction

Kenya is a beautiful country with many different physical features. Physical features are things you can see in nature, like mountains, rivers, and lakes.

Mountains

Mountains are very tall landforms that reach high up into the sky. Mount Kenya is one of the tallest mountains in Africa. Think of a mountain like a giant hill that goes way up high!

Rivers

Rivers are like big streams of water that flow through the land. The longest river in Kenya is the Tana River. Imagine a river as a long snake made of water!

Lakes

Lakes are large bodies of water surrounded by land. Lake Victoria is the largest lake in Kenya. Picture a lake as a huge puddle that never dries up!

Fun Activity

Find a map of Kenya and try to locate Mount Kenya, the Tana River, and Lake Victoria. Draw simple pictures of these physical features on the map.
