Kenya's Climate and Weather

Introduction

Climate and weather are important aspects of our environment. They affect the way we live, what we wear, and the activities we can do.

What is Climate?

  • Climate is the average weather conditions in a place over a long period of time.
    • For example, if it is usually hot and dry in a certain area, we say that the climate there is hot and dry.

What is Weather?

  • Weather refers to the conditions of the atmosphere in a place at a specific time.
    • For instance, if it is raining heavily today, that is the weather for today.

Fun Activity

  • Weather Watcher: Observe the weather each day for one week. Record whether it is sunny, rainy, cloudy, or windy. Discuss with your friends or family why the weather changes.

Remember

  • Climate is the average weather over a long time.
  • Weather refers to the conditions of the atmosphere at a specific time.
  • Both climate and weather play a big role in our daily lives.
