Vocabulary

Introduction

Vocabulary is a fancy word for all the words you know and use when you speak, read, or write.

What is Vocabulary?

  • Words We Know: Vocabulary is like a big treasure chest full of words we know, like "apple," "happy," "jump," and "friend."
  • New Words: Sometimes we learn new words like "exciting," "explore," or "adventure."

How to Build Vocabulary

  • Reading: When we read books, magazines, or even signs on the road, we discover new words.
  • Talking: Chatting with friends and family helps us learn new words and practice using them.
  • Writing: When we write stories, letters, or even a diary, we get to use lots of different words.

Fun Activity

Try this fun activity: Go on a word hunt around your house or school. Write down any new words you find and try to use them in a sentence.

Remember

  • Vocabulary is all the words we know.
  • We learn new words by reading, talking, and writing.
  • Practice using new words in sentences to remember them better.
