Drawing Lines and Shapes

Kinds of lines

  • Straight line: goes in one direction, like a ruler edge.
  • Curved line: bends, like a rainbow.
  • Zigzag line: goes up and down, like the roof of a mabati sheet.

Making shapes

Lines join to make shapes. Three straight lines make a triangle. A closed curved line makes a circle.

Drawing pictures

We can draw a house using a square, a triangle for the roof, and a rectangle for the door.

Try it

  • Draw one straight, one curved and one zigzag line.
  • Draw a house using shapes.
  • Colour your picture neatly.
